Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about running and entering shows on Fur to Feathers.

Running a Show

Who is Fur to Feathers for?
Fur to Feathers is a platform for clubs and individuals to run virtual pet shows and competitions — often as a fundraiser. Organisers set up a show, exhibitors enter their pets online, and judging (expert or public vote) decides the winners.
How do I create a show?
From your dashboard, start the show wizard. It walks you through show basics, show type, breed & eligibility, competition classes, sponsorship, judging setup, awards & prizes, entry fees, and branding, then a final review before you publish. Your progress is saved automatically, so you can leave and come back to finish later.
Can I run a show as an individual, or does it have to be a club?
Either — when you sign up you choose an Individual or Club/Organisation account. Club accounts can run multiple shows under one organisation profile and share a club logo across their shows' certificates.
What types of show can I run?
Fun Stakes shows are available today. Beauty Contest, Memorial, Other, and non-dog animal show types are coming soon.
Can I edit a show or an entry once judging has started?
You can, but be careful — the entry edit screen shows a warning once judging day has begun, since changing an entry's class part-way through judging can affect scoring. A firmer safeguard is planned for later.
Can I set defaults so I don’t have to re-enter my timezone and currency every time?
Yes — set your default timezone and currency on your account settings page, and every new show you create will pre-fill with them.

Fees & Getting Paid

How does pricing work?
Fur to Feathers uses all-in pricing: the entry fee you set as an organiser is exactly what the exhibitor pays — nothing is added at checkout. Our platform fee and card processing costs are deducted from that amount, not added on top. See our Pricing page for a full breakdown.
What’s the platform fee?
8% of each entry, or a small per-currency minimum if 8% works out lower (for example A$1.00, NZ$1.10, US$0.70, £0.50, €0.60, C$0.90, S$0.90, R12.00). It's deducted from the entry fee — never charged on top of it.
Why is there a minimum platform fee?
Card processors charge a small fixed fee per transaction, so a minimum platform fee applies to keep low-value entries financially viable.
How do I actually get paid?
Entry fees are collected on your behalf and held for you until payout. We send you a settlement statement showing what was collected and what you're owed, then transfer the funds — by bank transfer if you're in Australia, or via OFX for international organisers. Transfers go out shortly after your show wraps up.
Are entry fees refundable?
The platform fee component is never refundable. Beyond that, Fur to Feathers is a platform provider, not a party to the agreement between an exhibitor and an organiser — we don't issue entry-fee refunds ourselves. If you believe you're owed a refund, contact the organising club directly. See our Terms & Conditions for the full refund policy.

Entering a Show

Do I need an account to enter a show?
Yes — sign up or log in before entering. If you follow a link to a show while logged out, you'll be brought straight back to it once you've signed in.
How much does it cost to enter?
Exactly what's shown on the show page — that's the total you pay, with no extra fees added at checkout.
Can I enter more than one pet or class?
Yes, you can add multiple pets and classes and pay for them together in one checkout.
What if a show only has one entry class?
It's selected for you automatically — no need to pick from a list of one.
When do entries close?
Every show sets its own entry open and close date, time, and timezone — check the show page for the exact cutoff.
Can a judge enter the show they’re judging?
No — judges are not permitted to enter a show they've been assigned to judge.
Can I get a refund if I change my mind?
Refunds are between you and the organising club — Fur to Feathers doesn't process entry-fee refunds itself. Contact the organiser directly, and see our Terms for details.
Can I sign in with Google or Facebook?
Not yet — sign-in is currently email and password only. Social sign-in is coming soon.

Physical Prizes & Certificates

What’s the difference between digital certificates and physical prizes?
They're two independent options an organiser can switch on when setting up a show. Digital certificates are auto-generated award certificates emailed to winners. Physical prizes are real-world items (ribbons, trophies, goodie bags, etc.) the organiser arranges separately.
Who supplies the physical prizes?
The organiser chooses — sponsor-supplied, provided by the organisation itself, or a mix of both — and adds a description of what's on offer for exhibitors to see on the show page.
How are prize winners chosen?
From the same rankings that come out of judging — the top-placed entries in each category.

Judging & Results

How are entries judged?
When setting up a show, the organiser chooses either an expert judge (who ranks entries directly) or public voting.
How does public voting work?
Voters receive a magic-link email to cast their vote. Depending on the organiser's settings, voting either opens alongside entries or only after entries close, and always closes at the show's start time.
What happens when results are published?
Once the organiser publishes results, placings are finalised and digital certificates are automatically emailed to winners who have an email on file. If a winner has no email on record, or the certificate design hasn't been finalised yet, that certificate is skipped and can be sent manually afterwards.

Accounts & Support

How do I sign up?
With an email address and password. Google and Facebook sign-in are coming soon.
I forgot my password — what do I do?
Use the Forgot Password link on the login page to reset it by email.
Can I generate a QR code for my show?
Not yet — QR codes for shows (handy for flyers and posters) are coming soon.
